Robert Cray has been bridging the lines between blues, soul and R&B for the past four decades, with five Grammy wins and over ten acclaimed albums. For his latest project, Robert Cray has teamed up with Steve Jordan and the legendary Memphis sidemen Hi Rhythm for a new album, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm, with a release date of April 28, 2018 for Jay-Vee Records. The Blues Hall of Famer traveled to Memphis with his friend, renowned Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Jordan to make a classic soul album with Hi Rhythm, the band that helped create that very sound in the 1970s backing up and recording with artists like Al Green and Ann Peoples. Jordan and Cray met in 1987 while working on the concert film Chuck Berry Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll. Steve produced Robert’s Grammy-winning Take Your Shoes Off in 1999, and a number of other albums, including the exciting 4 Nights of 40 Years Live.

About Robert Cray
Growing up in the northwest, Robert Cray listened to the gospel of the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi, Bobby Bland’s soul, Jimi Hendrix’s rock guitar and The Beatles pop sounds. He would bring all of these influences into play throughout his career. “You gotta keep your ears open and expand your mind,” says Cray. Open ears and an open mind are the essence of the singer, guitarist and songwriter’s approach to writing, recording and playing music. He has created a sound that rises from American roots and arrives today both fresh and familiar. In just over forty years Cray and his band have recorded twenty studio releases, fifteen of which have been on the Billboard charts, and played bars, concert halls, festivals and arenas around the world. Cray continues to regularly record and tour. He has appeared as part of the Crossroads Guitar Festival, and supported Eric Clapton during his 2006-2007 World Tour. In 2011, Cray was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and received the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance in 2017.
